Position: You will serve as the lead Quality Assurance (QA) authority on the weapon system production floor. In this role, you will own all quality-related processes impacting shipping, receiving, parts management, system and subsystem assembly, final acceptance and others. This position requires the oversight of a small QA team (less than 5 people). You will drive quality and compliance efforts and continuously improve the AS9100D/ISO-9001 quality management system while mentoring and developing the QA team.
Responsibilities:
- Own, manage and improve the weapon program’s quality plans, control plans, inspection checklists, and verification and validation of production-related requirements.
- Participate in the internal review boards, lead and track root-cause/corrective action discovered across production materials, components and workflows, and document appropriately.
- Oversee in-process and final acceptance inspections and other company and government required inspection procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in concert with other production leadership.
- Maintain and improve the AS9100D and related quality system elements specific to the production line: calibration, document control, training records, audit readiness, and supplier quality oversight.
- Act as primary quality interface to the customer and senior program leadership for all quality escapes, audits, and corrective-action status.
- Implement and monitor key quality metrics and present program quality reviews on an as-needed basis.
- Ensure full compliance with all safety-related requirements.
Qualifications:
- 7 years of QA experience in aerospace/defense hardware production; at least 5 years leading QA teams on DoD-related efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
- Experience in achieving and sustaining high quality production-related systems, verified with quantitative measurements and documentation.
- Knowledge of AS9100D, ISO-9001 and other government-required standards.
- U.S. citizenship with current Secret clearance required (or ability to obtain/maintain one).
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills; able to train new QA engineers, influence production leadership, and present to executive staff and government customers.
