JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Electrical Engineer II – (Control Systems) will be responsible for executing projects by directly contributing to project design and commissioning, while executing various project tasks that lead to efficient project completion and general team growth. The electrical engineer will be part of an engineering team with the responsibilities of designing, installing, and commissioning various industrial control and automation systems, to include drive systems, control panels, PLC and Robotics programming, troubleshooting, power transmission and distribution, and project management for heavy industry projects. The position requires hands-on shop and field support to work both independently and within a team to lead and mentor various junior engineers and technicians to successfully complete projects based on sound engineering practices, customer specifications, and expectations. This position is an opportunity to be exposed to an extremely diverse set of applications, technologies, and processes, with the expectation to grow into a leadership and mentoring position with increased responsibilities and support.

PREFERRED DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Industrial machinery and automation process experience:
Experience with the design, troubleshooting, and respective code requirements of various industrial control and safety systems.
- Electrical control panel design and layout:
Understanding proper control panel design, product selection, SCCR calculations, testing, and installation practices.
- Communication protocols and instrumentation networks:
Understanding of various industrial Ethernet/IP and Profinet network designs and respective product selection.
- AC and/or DC Drives and Motors:
Experience with the installation, tuning, commissioning, and troubleshooting of various drive systems. Can demonstrate an understanding of drive design, control algorithms, and regulators.
- Low and Medium Voltage Power Systems:
Can demonstrate an understanding of 3-phase power systems, transformers, protection, and NEC/NFPA code principles.
- Knowledge of various schematic, modeling, and controls programming software:
CAD: AutoCAD Electrical
Power Modeling: ETAP, EZPower
Programming: Rockwell, Siemens, and others
- Knowledge of relevant safety and design standards:
NFPA, UL, and others
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Self-Starter with attention to detail and a strong motivation to complete projects on schedule.
- Proven leadership abilities and is willing to contribute as needed to the benefit of the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Solid fundamental electrical engineering knowledge.
- 3 years relevant experience.
- Creative problem solver with a customer-based perspective.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and verbal skills.

The McCalla, AL facility is conveniently located just outside of Birmingham, with a typical short, low-traffic commute down either I-20/59 or I-459.
