About Coalition for Hispanic Family Services (CHFS):
Coalition for Hispanic Family Services (CHFS) is a community- based, family-focused organization of color providing an array of services to children and families in North Brooklyn and Western Queens. About Program:
CHFS' Family Support Programs offer children and families of Brooklyn and Queens a series of support service models that includes, but is not limited to individual and family counseling, advocacy and general referral services, mental health and/or addiction support services, concrete support, recreational family activities, as well as educational and medical support.
JOB SUMMARY: CHFS is looking for five (5) Community Outreach Workers for its Family Support programs located in Brooklyn and Queens. Our unique services help parents create a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters a strong parent-child relationship and promotes positive child development. The Outreach Worker will play an integral role promoting CHFS' Family Support programs and services in the community, while also growing our family census. Under the broad supervision of the Site Director (SD), the Community Outreach Worker would serve as the primary contact for parents, community-based services providers, and lead on partnership-building.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· In collaboration with the SD, co-design strategic outreach activities, identify marketing materials, develop presentations, program family events
· Provide outreach to community service providers through distribution of materials, information/educational presentations, and tabling events in order to identify potential family participants
· Help foster connections between families and Family Support Services as sources of support and resources
· Identify and participate in community networking events to promote program services, develop linkages
· Identify emerging needs in communities and among children and families
· In partnership with program leadership, participates in the Collaborative Quality Improvement work groups to address program improvement needs
· Meets with SD for supervision to discuss partnership building, program outcomes, intake/referrals, cross-system issues, and support
· Document/maintain tracking data of all outreach efforts, presentations, networking events, family participation lists, as well as monthly community referrals data
· Attend ACS and agency in-house trainings as required
· One to two late nights, as may be required
· Availability on Saturdays, as may be required, for presentations and/or family events
· Complete special projects as assigned by the AED, or Site Director
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Social Work or Human Services degree. At least two years in a similar community outreach position. A knowledge base of Foster Care or Prevention services is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required, as well as being computer literate, dynamic in persona, comfortable in large social settings, and capacity to be independent with general job responsibilities. Experience in running groups is also highly preferred, as well as being Bilingual in Spanish.
