PURPOSE OF POSITION
Catalyze Kingdom transformation at Cairn University by sharing the Gospel, inviting students into the life of the local church, and mobilizing the Christian community and churches to engage ministry on campus. Develop deep collaboration between church/community members and students that promotes strong biblical discipleship, life long commitment to the Church, and the flourishing of Christ’s kingdom in their local context and all areas of life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and routinely revise a ministry plan according to the CCO’s Annual Ministry Plan and Campus Playbook.
- Ensure a consistent and visible presence of the CCO and Langhorne Presbyterian Church (LPC) on campus and in meeting with students through regular participation in Cairn University’s activities.
- Collect and maintain student contact information, following up with & inviting students into ministry opportunities.
- Plan and facilitate gatherings of students on campus throughout the week that include prayer, teaching, evangelism, leadership development, and applying Scripture to life in college and beyond.
- Invite students regularly to church gatherings, CCO’s Jubilee conference and other transformative opportunities.
- Establish a healthy relationship with the university that honors Cairn University guidelines for outside organizations and promotes sustainable campus access for the CCO and Langhorne Presbyterian.
- Partnership specific duties and responsibilities, including ensuring that Cairn students who would like to attend LPC have transportation and helping LPC create space for Cairn students to fulfil their ministry-for-credit requirements.
Church Integration
- Effectively and consistently communicate the vision and progress of college ministry within the church.
- Connect students into discipleship opportunities and relationships within the church body.
- Invite and equip congregants to provide hospitality, mentorship, and discipleship of college students and young adults with the aim of sending them out as leaders in their spheres of influence, including the establishment of a College Ministry Team that is integrated into programs in the church as well as on campus.
- Support the overarching goals and efforts of the entire church by being an active part of the staff team and maintaining a servant-leadership mentality in all aspects of ministry.
- Maintain intentional pastoral relationships with young adults connected to the church, including high school graduates, local college students, and young adults from the church but studying at campuses elsewhere.
- Develop and oversee a transition plan, in coordination with church staff and leaders, for graduating high school students to help them move into full adult participation in the church, including the intentional reintegration of returning graduates into the life of the church.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure that college students and young adults are not siloed but incorporated in the ordinary life of the church.
Leadership Development
- Develop and mobilize student leaders to co-labor in the on campus fellowship, evangelism, and Bible studies.
- Disciple and mobilize leaders among students at Cairn University and Langhorne Presbyterian Church to live out their faith in service and evangelism.
- Directing and overseeing the recruitment of Cairn students into leadership development pathways, such as the Ocean City Beach Project and the formation of a student intern program.
- Steward a positive relationship with Langhorne Presbyterian Church that promotes long-lasting ministry in partnership with CCO.
- Attend regular Langhorne Presbyterian Church staff meetings.
- Participation in the ministry rhythms of LPC as a leader and shepherd of the church and integrating students into the life and rhythm of LPC.
- Teach LPC classes, lead small groups and Bible studies, lead prayer groups, and assist in worship, from time-to-time, as schedules, duties, and coordination with LPC staff allows.
- Opportunity to preach at LPC from time-to-time.
- Participate in the shepherding of LPCers through the shepherding of young adults, college students, and their families.
Other Projects & Duties Assigned
- Participate in all required CCO Training.
- Report ministry outcomes through CCO Mid-Year/Year-End Reflections and Annual Campus Stats documents.
- Pray regularly and frequently for the ministry of the CCO.
- Exceed 100% of support raising ministry goals.
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master of Divinity (or equivalent) preferred. Ordained or ordainable in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church preferred. LPC, in conjunction with CCO and the EPC’s Presbytery of the East, would be able and willing to assist in earning a Master of Divinity while on staff.

- 1-3 years ministry related experience required
- Able to internalize ministry vision and strategy.

- Ability to engage a wide range of audiences and age demographics.
- Cultivate growth through regular worship in Langhorne Presbyterian church, prayer, Scripture study, and other spiritual disciplines.
- Displays personal conduct consistent with CCO’s Statement of Faith, Core Values and CCO employee handbook.
- Review and adhere to all general expectations of Langhorne Presbyterian Church staff team members.
