Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with 10 years of design experience to support ongoing operations and project initiatives. The Senior Controls Engineer will serve as both the Design Engineer and Lead Engineer for assigned design changes, providing technical leadership, oversight, and cross-disciplinary coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant design implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Design Engineer and Lead Engineer for assigned design changes, ensuring all deliverables meet technical and regulatory standards
- Provide engineering direction and coordination across disciplines, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful design execution
- Support and perform on-site walkdowns, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to verify design accuracy and installation quality
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, scoping documents, and project schedules for assigned design packages
- Develop and review control narratives, I/O lists, and electrical/controls drawings to ensure design integrity and operational reliability
- Conduct field verifications, including cable routing, wiring checks, and equipment installation validation
Qualifications
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 10 years of experience in engineering design, ideally with exposure to controls systems, electrical design, and plant operations
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, control logic, and I/O configuration
- Demonstrated experience with control narrative development, drawing reviews, cost estimating, and field verification
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make sound engineering judgements under tight timelines
- Prior nuclear industry experience and design engineering background are strongly preferred
