Project Manager - Transmission & Substation Projects
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading execution and closeout of construction-based transmission and substation projects across the utility service area.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage transmission and substation projects through execution, construction coordination, and closeout.
- Take ownership of project schedules once transitioned from Development and ensure milestones are tracked, updated, and communicated.
- Oversee full project lifecycle coordination from engineering through construction, energization, closeout, and turnover.
- Manage monthly project forecasts and provide accurate updates on cost, schedule, risks, and project status.
- Support funding revisions, budget updates, and cost tracking as project scope or execution conditions change.
- Coordinate material procurement needs to ensure equipment, materials, and long-lead items align with project schedules.
- Partner closely with engineering, construction, field operations, procurement, project controls, and leadership teams.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with utility leadership and engineering stakeholders regarding project progress, risks, blockers, and required decisions.
- Identify, escalate, and help resolve project risks related to schedule, budget, materials, engineering dependencies, and construction execution.
- Support planning efforts for projects forecasted 1-3 years out while staying committed to lifecycle delivery through closeout.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with utility standards, capital plans, and operational expectations.
Top Qualifications
- - Utility project management experience in a construction-based environment.
- - Experience supporting transmission, substation, or related T&D infrastructure projects.
- - Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with senior leadership, engineering teams, construction stakeholders, and field personnel.
- - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- - Experience with scheduling, monthly forecasting, funding revisions, material coordination, and project closeout.
