Project Overview:
A leading global biopharmaceutical company is making a landmark $1 billion investment to expand its biologics manufacturing campus in Holly Springs, NC. This greenfield development will deliver a second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, integrating both stainless steel batch and single-use bioprocessing systems, with a focus on scalability, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
This high-profile expansion builds on a previous $550 million investment and further cements North Carolina’s reputation as a premier biotech hub.
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager (Contract) to lead and coordinate all phases of engineering execution for this flagship facility. The role requires close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, external vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery—on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, engineering, and construction phases of the greenfield expansion
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, and vendors
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Process Development, Manufacturing, and EHS
- Oversee engineering deliverables (P&IDs, layouts, utility design)
- Monitor project performance using controls and reporting tools
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and manage change control
- Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and safety regulations
- Support continuous improvement and value engineering activities
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of engineering/project management experience in pharma or heavy industry
- Proven track record on large-scale greenfield or brownfield CAPEX projects ($500M preferred)
- Familiarity with stainless steel and single-use bioprocess technologies
- Strong understanding of GMP, FDA, CQV, and commissioning practices
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- PMP or equivalent certification (preferred)
