Position: Lead Warehouse Operative
Reports To: Area Operations Manager / Warehouse Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $20-$23.00/hr
Work Location Type: Onsite
Purpose:
The Lead Warehouse Operative is responsible for guiding and assisting warehouse operatives, controlling inventory and ensuring customer orders are fulfilled and loaded onto delivery vehicles while maintaining a clean and safe workplace environment. This role is required to perform tasks assigned by Warehouse Manager specific to day-to-day operations of the warehouse.
Essential Functions and Skills:
- Helps to direct and assist in loading and unloading deliveries, building orders and stocking products
- Responsible for executing closing procedures at the warehouse during the week (Monday – Friday) unless other arrangements are in place
- Load merchandise in delivery trucks using appropriate tools, Accommodate and carefully handle fragile merchandise
- Label and stockpile merchandise according to size, shape, and type; Box, wrap and pack the merchandise in accordance with relevant procedures and standards; Prepare all orders for shipment
- Provide support to warehouse team
- Help in maintaining work schedules for warehouse staff and work with the Area Operations Manager and/or Warehouse Manager in allocation of personnel, as necessary
- Help track inventory life cycle (from receiving product through loading vehicle for delivery)
- Assist in finding efficient and effective ways to receive / store products in the warehouse, improve safety, and Load trucks
- Help to train and lead warehouse crew members by example so that they can become a more valuable part of our team
- Explore, train, and improve the way we pull and load orders onto delivery vehicles in collaboration with supervisors and members of the Delivery Team
- Help to maintain the standards of all safety programs in and around the warehouse
- Effectively communicate and develop solutions to concerns presented between vendors, warehouse members, drivers, and/or sales staff
- Help to educate employees in order to maintain a safe work environment and keep everyone both safe and aware of any or all safety concerns
- When receiving a delivery, inspect for damage and check items received against purchase orders and invoices and reports discrepancies to appropriate person(s)
- Directs, assists, and performs proper damage control techniques to minimize loss
- Assists with proper product repackaging and damage procedures
- Record and manage all impaired or damaged merchandise
- Operate powered equipment within the warehouse (for example, forklift)
- Enter data in Route Accounting Software program and other software, as needed
- Make repairs, as needed or directed
- Adhere to all Company Policies, Procedures, and Employment Articles.
- All other duties, as assigned.

- Help to identify and report any warehouse issues or processes needing improvement
- Ensure all standards of conduct are met in accordance with Company Guidelines as found in the Employee Handbook
- Report any unsafe workplace practices or accidents immediately to supervisor
- Maintain confidentiality of Company Information
- Demonstrate effective time management strategies
- Notify supervisor of any repairs needed in a timely manner
- Follow product breakage procedures to ensure minimal loss to Company
- Use sound judgment to achieve daily tasks and seek guidance and direction from supervisor when necessary to find a resolution

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalence Certificate preferred but not required.
Experience:
At least 6 months of warehouse experience.
Other Requirements:
Must pass background check.
Must have proper authorization to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements/Workplace Conditions:
This position requires frequent bending and twisting the body, keeping or regaining balance, kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawling and repetitive motions. This position also requires frequent time walking or standing, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. This position requires frequent lifting, pushing or pulling up to 60 lbs. The position requires basic skills such as full vision capabilities, the ability to actively listen/hear, read/comprehend, communicate orally and reason or analyze on a constant basis and to perform calculations frequently.
This position also requires social skills such as, leadership, coordination efforts, team efforts, perceptiveness to others, using sound judgment, and willingness to help others. Work is performed in a warehouse environment that is environmentally controlled but has frequent open doors. The inside environment may be hot or cold depending on the current weather conditions.
Work is also performed using technology and powered equipment.
