Job Title: Part-Time Cook
Hours: 20–30 hours per week

Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW) provides nutritious meals and a daily wellness check to community members in Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, and Superior who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. We believe food is love, and our kitchen is the heart of our mission.
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Assistant is a part-time (25 hours per week) position that supports the daily operations of the kitchen, helping prepare and package meals for our home-delivered Coal Creek Meals on Wheels program. This role plays an essential part in ensuring community members receive nutritious, high-quality meals. The Kitchen Assistant helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while supporting efficient meal production and delivery processes. Responsibilities also include supporting the Coal Creek Café program as part of our broader mission to nourish and connect the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with labeling, packaging, and preparing meals for delivery
- Support daily kitchen operations to ensure timely and accurate meal production
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, dishwashing, and storage areas
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Support the Coal Creek Café program as needed
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Participate in staff meetings, training, and special events as required
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen experience preferred, or interest in learning and growing in a kitchen environment
- Commitment to food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices
- Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and web-based applications
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated teamwork, flexibility, and a sense of humor
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the kitchen
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a background check

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
