What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral 1:1 Instructor position at CO-OP?
The Behavioral 1:1 Instructor is responsible for providing an array of vocational, self-help, therapeutic and community-based activities designed to enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Services include, but are not limited to, case management; transportation; the development of social relationships; and providing support in the areas of work and recreation; and therapeutic and personal living skills.
This position is based in Taunton area working Monday through Friday 8AM - 4PM.
No weekends no holidays!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervise, support and maintain the safety of assigned groups or individuals.
- Provide relevant support, training, and assistance to individuals as identified in their ISP and/or as needed in life routines. These areas may include: supported employment, self-employment, therapy-based activities, personal hygiene, daily living skills, recreation, and/or other skills as determined by the individual’s ISP.
- Implement individual and group service plans throughout the day including behavioral and therapeutic programs.
- Participate as a Team member in the ISP process and in person-centered planning.
- Complete service documentation requirements including, but not limited to, daily data; behavioral data; progress notes; and community notes, as assigned and defined by supervisor.
- Attend and participate at meetings as required, to facilitate participant progress.
- Provide training, support, and assistance as necessary to assist people in adapting to community environments and new workplace.
- Prepare and clean assigned work areas.
- Attend all required trainings and maintain required certifications.
- Attend work on a regular, consistent basis.
- Facilitate opportunities for social inclusion and relationships during and after work hours.
- Assume advocacy role as necessary for issues such as advancement, benefits, pay increases, and placement on employer payroll.
- Provide transportation to and from work sites optimally working toward natural supports within the host company or community.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Ability to comprehend and write English at traditional Grade 12 level.
- Physically capable of performing direct service duties designated.
- Driver’s license with experience driving for 3 years minimum, a safe driving record, and an agreement to use one’s personal vehicle for business purposes if so required.
- One year experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Acceptable Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), Sexual Offender Record Information (SORI), and fingerprint check.
