What You'll Do
As a Fiber Optic Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining and growing our fiber network:
🏗 New Construction - Build and expand fiber infrastructure.
🛠 Troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve issues with precision.
🚨 Service Restoration - Respond to outages and restore services quickly.
Your day-to-day work includes fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and aerial/underground drop or cable construction using both large and small equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Two‑year EDS/UST (or related) program 1 year of relevant experience OR 3 years of aerial/underground utility construction experience
- Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions
- Certified climber or willing to become certified
Core Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of fiber theory (loss, connectors, fiber types)
- Experience with ribbon and loose‑tube fiber
- Skilled with OTDR, OLTS, Power Meters, VFL, and related tools
- Proficient with single and mass fusion splicing
- Ability to read splice matrices and maintain aerial/underground closures
- Accurate fiber size and color‑code identification across FTTH, underground, and aerial environments
