SUMMARY
The Propane and Refined Fuel Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of propane and refined fuels to residential, agricultural, and commercial customers. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in varying weather conditions. Drivers are a key face of our business and are expected to maintain positive customer relationships while adhering to all DOT, company, and industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Safe Delivery: Safely load, transport, and deliver propane and refined fuels to customer sites in accordance with DOT, company, and industry regulations.
- Customer Service: Represent Co-Energy Alliance in a professional and courteous manner; answer basic product or service-related inquiries during delivery. Eagerly seek ways to meet customer needs, answering questions, responding to complaints, and satisfying commitments. Report any customer concerns to the Operations Manager in a timely fashion.
- Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; perform basic maintenance to ensure trucks and equipment remain in safe, working conditions.
- Documentation & Compliance: Accurately complete required delivery logs, invoices, and daily driver reports. Comply with DOT hours-of-service rules and company safety procedures.
- Safety & Emergency Response: Follow established safety protocols for handling hazardous materials. Be prepared to respond to emergencies or spills in accordance with training. Possess a strong knowledge of safety regulations and have familiarity with not just traffic laws but rules regarding required rest, maximum miles driven and the like. Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve common equipment or delivery challenges independently.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist in tank installations, yard and facility maintenance, or other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Travel: Local routes within service area; no overnight travel expected.
- Schedule: May require early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and extended hours during seasonal peaks.
- Possess and maintain a clean driving record.
- Capable of multitasking, working through stress and interruptions, all while maintaining patience and professional communication.
- Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management.
- Presents a clean and professional appearance.
- Responsible for prompt and regular attendance.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Commercial driving experience is required for this position. Experience delivering propane and/or refined fuels preferred. See “Certificates, Licenses, Registrations” section for more information.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Capable of reading and understanding documents including operating and maintenance instructions, safety procedures, and other policies. Capable of writing correspondence and reports. Effective speaking/verbal skills with customers and employees within the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic mathematical skills are required for this role including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numerical values.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer operation skills are required for this role.
REASONING ABILITY
Apply basic understanding as it relates to conducting instructions whether written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to juggle problems that may include multiple variables and unique/complex situations. Have the capability of thinking quickly, assessing hazards, using necessary precautions, selecting appropriate PPE as required by specific needs, regulations, or labels.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
- Must be 21 years of age.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
As an employee your duties may require standing, walking, and sitting. Additionally, you may be required to use your hands to finger, handle or feel. Reaching with hands and arms or climbing and balancing may be required. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling are additional potential demands. Situations that require talking, hearing, or smelling may occur. You will be regularly lifting or moving 50 pounds or more. The use of ladders might be required climbing to a height of 20’ as well as climbing stairs. You might have to use close, distant, color or peripheral vision including depth perception and focus. Employees must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures and programs for prevention and protection while performing job duties in various work environments.
