Role Overview
Deconstruction Workers are skilled members of CO Adaptive’s Build team responsible for performing safe, efficient, and high-quality deconstruction work across CO Adaptive’s project scopes. This role builds upon the apprentice skill set, requiring greater technical proficiency, autonomy, and leadership in supporting jobsite operations and collaborating with team members and apprentices.

Core Responsibilities 

Technical Deconstruction Work

  • Safely assess deconstruction situations and determine the appropriate process and sequencing.
  • Proficiently remove and install doors, windows, and building materials as designated by the supervisor.
  • Implement and master CO Adaptive’s deconstruction scopes, including cataloging, packing, storage, and waste stream management.
  • Load and unload materials for transport and storage.

Tools Equipment

  • Use all expected tools proficiently (table saw, circular saw, jigsaw, Sawzall, drills/drivers, compressors, pneumatic nailers, miter saw).
  • Maintain tools and equipment and communicate repair needs to the supervisor.

Jobsite Operations

  • Read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications independently.
    Update task lists and communicate scope changes or delays to the supervisor.
  • Maintain site safety and security, including daily OSHA compliance and end-of-day site closure.
  • Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe at all times.

Leadership Collaboration

  • Support a collaborative and inclusive environment by mentoring apprentices and modeling CO Adaptive’s core values.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with peers, supervisors, and trade partners.

Reporting Collaboration

Delegation to: Apprentice Deconstruction Workers
Keep informed coordination with: Deconstruction Workers, Deconstruction Lead
Keep informed and seek high level decisions from: Director of Building, Deconstruction Lead, Principals

Success in This Role Requires

  • Education or work experience in carpentry, construction, masonry, or related fields.
  • OSHA 40 certification (or willingness to complete within 3 months).
  • Strong technical carpentry skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work safely, recognize hazards, and solve problems proactively.
  • High reliability and ability to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina and endurance appropriate for construction work.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and equitable jobsite practices.
  • Alignment with CO Adaptive’s core values of integrity, collaboration, innovation, and sustainability.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift and maneuver materials up to 80 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working on scaffolding.
  • Proficient use of a full range of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work at heights and in variable site conditions.
  • Endurance to perform physical tasks consistently and safely throughout the workday.

Hourly range: $33.00/hr -$49.00/hr commensurate with experience and trade proficiency

Full-time employment with CO Adaptive includes 13 days of paid time off during your first year, which you may use at your discretion, in addition to our standard company holidays. You’ll receive two additional PTO days for each subsequent year of employment. Employees also receive 5 days of paid sick time annually.

After 60 days, you’ll be eligible for a comprehensive healthcare package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and term disability coverage. CO Adaptive contributes $600 per month toward the plan of your choice.

We also invest in your continued growth by providing an annual professional development allowance of up to $1,000 and up to 5 paid days per year to pursue training or education opportunities.

After 6 months, you’ll be eligible to participate in our 401(k) plan, which includes employer matching contributions—100% match on the first 3% of compensation, plus 50% match on the next 2%.
