Academies of Math and Science Special Education Business Manager Location: Phoenix, Arizona (Network Office or Assigned Campus) Schedule: Full-Time | In-person role Compensation Range: $45,000-$55,000.00, DOE Position Overview The Special Education Business Manager supports the Special Education Department by maintaining accurate student records, managing compliance-related data, and overseeing financial and clerical operations that support special education services across the organization. This role ensures that student records, reporting systems, and financial processes remain aligned with Arizona Department of Education (ADE) requirements while supporting the operational and strategic goals of the charter network. The Special Education Business Manager works closely with Special Education leadership, campus teams, and finance departments to ensure the department operates efficiently, maintains compliance with federal and state regulations, and effectively supports students receiving special education services. Key Responsibilities Special Education Records & Compliance Maintain accurate and organized special education student records in accordance with ADE and federal guidelines. Monitor documentation and data systems to ensure compliance with IDEA, ADE, and organizational policies. Support the collection, verification, and submission of required compliance documentation and reports. Assist in preparing documentation for state audits, program monitoring, and compliance reviews. Data Management & Reporting Manage and maintain special education data systems and reporting tools. Track and monitor compliance timelines related to: Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Evaluations and reevaluations Eligibility documentation Generate reports and analyze data to support department leadership in monitoring program effectiveness and compliance. Financial & Budget Support Support financial operations for the Special Education Department, including: Budget tracking Purchase orders Vendor payments Expense monitoring Assist with management of special education funding streams, including grants and program allocations. Coordinate with finance and leadership teams to ensure expenditures align with department budgets and organizational priorities. Administrative & Operational Support Provide clerical and operational support to Special Education leadership and program staff. Coordinate department communications, scheduling, and documentation processes. Support organization and tracking of special education department initiatives and projects. Maintain organized records and documentation to support department efficiency. Collaboration & Strategic Alignment Work collaboratively with campus administrators, special education coordinators, and department leaders. Ensure operational practices align with organizational goals and strategic operating plans. Support implementation of systems and processes that improve efficiency and compliance within the Special Education Department. Qualifications & Competencies Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Public Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent relevant experience). Experience supporting administrative, financial, or operational functions in an education or nonprofit environment. Strong organizational and record management skills. Experience working with data systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools (Excel proficiency preferred). Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential student information. Knowledge of or ability to learn special education compliance requirements and ADE regulations. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within special education programs or departments. Familiarity with IDEA regulations and Arizona Department of Education compliance requirements. Experience supporting education budgets, grants, or program funding management. Experience working in K–12 school systems or charter schools. Physical Requirements Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to organize and manage physical and digital records.
