Community Outreach Assistant

CNY Fair Housing is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating housing discrimination, promoting open and diverse communities, and ensuring equal access to housing opportunity for all people in Central and Upstate New York. Position Description: The Community Outreach Assistant supports the agency’s community engagement efforts by assisting the Community Outreach Coordinator and Director of Community Engagement with education, outreach, and marketing activities. This is a full-time, grant-funded position with a salary range of $47,000 – $50,000. Benefits package includes health and dental insurance, 403(b) with matching after one year, and generous family leave.

Reports To: Community Outreach Coordinator and Director of Community Engagement

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Community Outreach Assistant include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with coordinating education and outreach activities including speaking engagements, training sessions, webinars, and tabling events
• Design and produce print and digital outreach and marketing materials
• Help manage agency’s public communications including social media platforms, newsletters, and website updates
• Represent agency at community events; educate community members on housing issues and agency services
• Assist with planning and executing organization events including annual fundraisers, conferences, and other community-related events
• Support the development and maintenance of partnerships with community stakeholders including tenant groups, housing associations, and human service agencies
• Assist with coordinating earned and paid advertising opportunities including media outreach
• Track and report on program activities; assist with monitoring progress toward achieving grant goals
• Maintain records of outreach activities and prepare summary reports as directed
• Assist with other tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• A demonstrated commitment to social justice
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills including social media, basic graphic design, and website management
• Experience working effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Previous outreach and/or non-profit experience a plus
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience required
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
