The Certified Athletic Trainer responsibilities include coordinating and delivering athletic training services to the student-athletes, including but not limited to: evaluation and treatment of injuries at practices and games, design and supervision of rehabilitation programs, administration of athletic training operations as assigned, working with team doctors, and community outreach as assigned.
General Duties:
- Provide preventative care, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- Supervise the daily operation of the athletic training room to ensure smooth operation of the treatment and care of the student athletes.
- Works with athletes to rehab injuries and provide a plan for getting athletes back to game-ready status.
- Prepares athletes for practices and games by taping and wrapping and helping with modalities needed before the athlete participates.
- Provides coverage of games where necessary and works with athletes when any injuries arise during game play.
- Documenting injury notes and communicating with CNOS physicians on the care of student athletes.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledge of current national and state legislation regarding Athletic Training / Medical Protocols and Regulations.
- Skill in efficiently evaluating and revising plan of care based on changes in patient status and individual’s response to treatment.
- Knowledge of how to use instructional/presentation techniques.
- Skill in instructing and demonstrating procedures and rehabilitation exercises.
- Candidate must possess strong organizational skills, effective communication skills, and ability to work independently.
- College athletics experience preferred but not required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Candidate must be nationally certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
- Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of Iowa and/or Nebraska required.
- Travel required and some work over holidays and weekends
