Commodity Buyer

The Commodity Buyer collaborates with suppliers for assigned items, supplies, and/or materials for assigned group/platform. Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce overall purchasing costs. Collaborates with suppliers to assure the quality of their products, materials, components and/or operations and develops supply recommendations. Ensures suppliers can meet forecasted demand. May coordinate efforts in the reduction of purchasing/engineering costs and establishing cost for new products. May participate in design and/or technical reviews. May select, recommend and manage relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service. Other related duties as assigned. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain or related field along with a minimum of 6 years of purchasing experience. Ability to travel up to 20% – domestic and international (majority of travel will be domestic) The preferred candidate will have experience with the following: Intermediate level of proficiency in Excel (to include pivot tables and v-look ups) Ability to read engineering drawings tied to the fab and weld commodity. Understand part complexity and factors which drive cost and dictate manufacturing process and supplier selection criteria. Understand manufacturing BoM structures and general knowledge of applicable materials in the steel commodity and their cost impacts. The annual salary for this role is $84,375.00 – $123,750 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
