Job Title: Food Service Specialist
Summary
Performs a wide range of marketing, management support, and training for all CN Brown food service locations. Works directly for the Food Service Coordinator and oversees all management and store level marketing of each food service location.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Oversees management, including hiring, discipline, and termination of managers and/or employees, among all food service operations within CN Brown.
2. Ensures location managers are properly trained and have training practices for employees in place at all food service locations.
3. Ensure managers fulfil all their job responsibilities, complete assigned tasks and work toward all goals set by corporate.
4. Assist Food Service Coordinator in establishing training goals/standards based on profitability to meet labor and cost percentage standards in each location.
5. Assist the Food Service Coordinator with distributor or vendor needs as they arise.
6. Reports directly to the Food Service Coordinator and adheres to all federal, state, and local laws, as well as all CN Brown policies as applicable in each location.
7. Must retain and hold a current ServSafe certification at all times.
8. Must retain and hold a current ServSafe Instructor & proctor certification at all times.
9. Assists the Food Service Coordinator with ServSafe certification training and ensures each location has appropriate certifications required by local, state, and/or federal law.
10. Must ensure each location is upholding food safety and cleanliness standards as required by local, state, or federal law.
11. Must perform food service monthly inspections, discuss findings with location manager, and send reports to Food Service Coordinator.
12. Assists managers with training needs for new hire employees and on-going training for all employees.
13. Ensure food service equipment in locations is properly maintained and reports any issues with equipment to the Food Service Coordinator.
14. Is able and willing to work in all food service operations as required to be the food service mentor for all food service staff.
15. Performs additional tasks as needed as directed by the Food Service Coordinator.
Minimum Job Requirements
· High school diploma or GED.
· Food Service management and/or training experience of at least 2 years
· Current ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain a current certification within 30 days of hire)
· Current ServSafe Instructor & Proctor certification (or ability to obtain current certification within 30 days of hire)
· Willingness to work with a variety of people in a professional manner.
· Ability to professionally train all levels of food service employees.
· Ability to professionally interact with vendors and distributors, making decisions to profit CN Brown.
· Must hold a valid driver’s license and clean driving record at all times
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate’s degree or higher in food service, hospitality, business, or related field
· Food service management experience of a quick service restaurant or convenience store or related field of two or more years
· Food safety certifications and food safety training background
· Experience with food service inventory
· Experience with food service management training
· Experience with food service buying and category management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
· Understanding of supplies, equipment, and food ordering and inventory control.
· Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions, including recipes.
· Ability to read, write, and do basic math.
· Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
· Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
· Ability to lead and train other employees.
· Ability to lift and manipulate objects up to 40 pounds.
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
· Knowledge of food service safety and temperature requirements.
· Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
· Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
· Ability to be a professional role model for entire food service team.
· Ability to fluently use Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and other office style programs
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
· Considerable physical activity when working at food service locations. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 40 lbs.
· Considerable time traveling during work hours.
· Considerable time sitting and using a computer during office hours.
· Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
· Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
· Varying schedule will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
