About Your Role
The Safety Manager oversees safety performance across multiple K–12 construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, local regulations, and project requirements. The role includes conducting site audits, reviewing safety plans and JHAs, and monitoring high-risk activities such as excavation, confined spaces, and equipment operations.
They work closely with project teams to plan safe work sequencing, lead safety meetings and training, and ensure protocols are effective in active school environments. The Safety Manager also tracks incidents, analyzes trends, enforces compliance, and promotes a proactive safety culture while maintaining proper documentation and aligning safety goals with overall project quality and performance.

About Your Role

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10 years of experience in construction safety oversight, preferably in K-12 or public-sector programs.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Experience overseeing safety across multiple projects or large-scale programs.
- Ability to identify risks and enforce corrective actions effectively.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- OSHA 30-hour certification.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or CHST certification.
- Experience working in active school environments or phased construction projects.
- Familiarity with Texas safety regulations and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Experience with safety management systems and reporting tools.
- Provide oversight of safety performance across multiple K-12 construction projects within the program.
- Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA standards, local regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Review and evaluate contractor safety plans, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site-specific safety procedures.
- Ensure safety protocols are properly implemented in active school environments with students, staff, and public access considerations.
- Identify high-risk activities including excavation, confined space, fall protection, crane operations, and heavy equipment use.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure proper planning and sequencing of work to minimize safety risks.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training initiatives as needed.
- Monitor incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Track and report safety metrics, trends, and performance across the program.
- Provide recommendations to improve safety processes, procedures, and culture.
- Collaborate with QA/QC and project management teams to ensure safety and quality objectives are aligned.
- Support enforcement of safety requirements and escalate non-compliance issues to program leadership.
- Participate in pre-construction and pre-installation meetings to address safety planning.
- Ensure proper documentation of safety activities, inspections, and compliance records.
- Promote a proactive safety culture among contractors and project teams.
