Position Type: Full-Time
About CMS Landscape Management
At CMS Landscape Management, we’ve built our reputation on quality, reliability, and high level service. We manage premium commercial properties, institutional clients, and large-scale grounds, delivering top-tier service every single day. We are growing, and we’re looking for leaders who want to build a long-term career with a company that values craftsmanship, accountability, and its people.
The Role
We aren't looking for just a mower operator with a clipboard—we are looking for a true field leader.
As a Landscape Crew Leader, you will take full ownership of your crew and your property portfolio. You will lead by example on the job site, ensure work is executed safely and efficiently to our high standards, and maintain accountability across the board. If you take pride in turning out pristine grounds, driving team performance, and maintaining a high level of professionalism every day, you’ll thrive here.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Leadership & Execution: Lead, train, and motivate a 2–4 person crew through all daily commercial grounds maintenance operations (mowing, edging, trimming, turf care, pruning, detail work, and seasonal work).
- Quality Control & Standards: Walk properties with an eye for detail. Ensure every site meets or exceeds CMS standards before rolling off the property.
- Accountability: Hold yourself and your crew accountable for job quality, safety compliance, punctuality, and proper care of company equipment and vehicles. Model standard-setting behavior not just for your crew, but also for the rest of the company.
- Daily Operations & Routing: Manage daily job tickets, monitor route efficiency, and ensure jobs are completed within budgeted hours without sacrificing quality.
- Client & Management Communication: Maintain professional, clear communication with field managers, team members, and property contacts when on-site.
- Equipment & Safety Maintenance: Oversee daily equipment checks, daily maintenance, secure loading, and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience leading a commercial landscape maintenance crew with demonstrated mastery of industry standards and equipment.
- Growth & Leadership Mindset: A positive, solutions-oriented attitude. You bring energy to the shop every morning and coach your crew to improve daily.
- Uncompromising Accountability: High integrity. You own your work, step up when challenges arise, and hold those around you to the same standard.
- Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and clean driving record required.
- Work Ethic: Reliability, strong organizational skills, and physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Culture Champion: Someone who can help build a culture like none other as we scale to higher levels.
- *Above all else - Character.
Candidate should be willing to submit to a drug screen and a background check if requested
What We Offer (Pay & Key Perks)
- Competitive Base Pay: Top-tier compensation based on experience - starting range $18-24 (or more based on top level experience)
- Performance Bonus Available: Opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses tied to route efficiency, quality standards, and safety/equipment care.
- Year-Round Stability: No winter layoffs—we keep our top leaders employed, paid, and busy 12 months a year.
- Clear Career Growth: As CMS continues to expand, potential to move into roles such as Field Supervisor, Production Manager, or Operations Manager if desired.
- Take-Home Vehicle Potential: Potential for a dedicated take-home company vehicle for top-performing leaders (dependent on specific factors).
- Pay Premiums: Additional hourly premiums for specialized certifications & licenses (e.g., pesticide applicator, DOT, etc), or bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
