The Law Clerk/Legal Intern assists the General Counsel and Risk Management Department in the development and administration of risk-management and loss-prevention programs and initiates policies to comply with safety legislation and industry practices.

The Law Clerk/Legal Intern assists the General Counsel and Risk Management Department in the development and administration of risk-management and loss-prevention programs and initiates policies to comply with safety legislation and industry practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of an overall risk management strategy for the organization, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur
- Assist in the preparation, review, and finalization of legal documents, including contracts, agreements and other documents
- Assist with the negotiation, drafting, and management of contracts
- Assist in ensuring the company’s adherence to all applicable laws and regulations
- Conduct research on relevant laws, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents to advise on various corporate matters
- Assist in the evaluation of risks, and compare potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
- Analyze current risks and identify potential risks that are affecting the company
- Assist in the creation of business continuity plans to limit risks
- Assist with the development and implementation of corporate governance policies and procedures
- Assist in conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors
- Review of external contracts and internal business proposals
- Ensure proper organization and maintenance of legal files and documentation
- Assist and liaison with outside contractors, consultants, including without limitation, insurance brokers and safety consultants
- Appearance in court and other legal proceedings as company representative
- Lift up to 30lbs
- Travel to various projects as assigned and as is reasonable
- Perform basic office duties, including typing, copying, emailing, etc.
- Operate tools and machinery as required
- May be required to work outside of normal business hours, as dictated by project needs
- Communicate regularly and effectively as appropriate
- Maintain the standards, culture and values of CML Security
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Management, Law or a related experience required
- Juris Doctor degree from a fully accredited law school in the United States or studying to practice law at a fully accredited law school in the United States
- Law student preferred (2L or 3L), preferably with interest in or experience working in a corporate legal department
- Strong skills in MS office, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- OSHA-10 certification (can be completed upon hire)
