Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and surgical cases.
- Monitor patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms using telemetry systems; respond promptly to abnormal findings.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions, injections, and Botulinum toxin treatments when applicable, following strict aseptic techniques.
- Perform detailed physical examinations, assessments, and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures like catheterizations, spinal taps, or laboratory specimen collection; ensure proper specimen processing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and patient education for complex cases including hospice & palliative medicine or long-term care needs.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies while delivering patient-centered care in fast-paced environments such as ICU, trauma centers, or emergency rooms.
Experience
- Proven critical care experience in settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; trauma medicine knowledge preferred.
- Experience working with telemetry equipment for cardiac monitoring; familiarity with ICD coding and EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus.
- Background in medical-surgical nursing with additional skills in wound care (suturing), ostomy care, or ventilator management highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced procedures including IV insertion, catheterization (urinary or vascular), and aseptic technique adherence.
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required; candidates should possess strong adaptability across various hospital environments.
- Knowledge of infectious disease protocols, infection control practices, and NCQA standards enhances your suitability for this role.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are advantageous for specialized units.
