The General Laborer is responsible for supporting daily operations at the sand and gravel mining pit. This position involves physical labor, equipment clean-up, site maintenance, and assisting operators and supervisors in maintaining safe and efficient production operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general labor duties around the mining pit, plant, and shop areas
- Clean and maintain equipment, conveyors, and work areas
- Assist equipment operators, mechanics, and supervisors as needed
- Shovel material, remove debris, and maintain roadways and walkways
- Help with loading, unloading, and moving materials and supplies
- Conduct routine inspections and report safety hazards or equipment issues
- Follow all MSHA safety regulations, company policies, and procedures
- Operate small tools and equipment safely
- Assist with plant maintenance and repairs when needed
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous construction, mining, or labor experience preferred but not required
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in dusty, noisy, and outdoor environments
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Valid driver's license preferred
- MSHA certification is a plus or willingness to obtain certification
- Outdoor work in hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions
- Exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing
