Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Handle cash drawer handling with precision, ensuring proper cash handling procedures and balancing registers at shift end
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities and improve customer experience
- Stock shelves and maintain merchandising standards to ensure products are well-organized and visually appealing
- Assist with product demos when needed, demonstrating features to educate customers and boost sales
- Maintain professional phone etiquette when answering inquiries or directing calls within the store
Experience
- Previous cashiering experience in retail or grocery stores is highly preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations is essential
- Strong retail math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially in overseeing customer service or cashier teams
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Excellent communication skills to engage confidently with customers and team members
- Experience in stocking, merchandising, or retail sales enhances overall performance in this role
