As a Parts Runner, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of parts and materials across our sites and vendors. You will pick up and deliver inter-office mail, parts, and other items, support inventory control, and help maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of your vehicle and the parts area. This role is vital to ensuring that our team has the necessary resources to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery & Pick-Up:
- Pick up and deliver inter-office mail and parts from various vendors and shops.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery to designated locations.
- Material Handling:
- Measure fuel tanks and report findings to the parts purchasing manager.
- Secure loads safely during transit and assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Help stock shelves and manage parts inventory as items are picked up and signed for.
- Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and routine upkeep of your vehicle.
- Keep the parts area organized and assist in regular inventory counts.
- Operate a forklift as needed for safe material handling.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Capable of safely moving and lifting at least 65 pounds.
- Able to quickly locate addresses and follow detailed instructions.
- Must maintain a good driving record with a valid driver's license, be insurable, and obtain/maintain a DOT medical card.
- Sitting/Driving: Approximately 75% of the time.
- Standing: Approximately 25% of the time.
- Weight Lifting: Frequently lift and carry up to 65 pounds. Heavy items may occasionally need to be lifted above the head or maneuvered in various positions (sitting, kneeling, or laying down). Assistance will be provided for heavy objects when necessary.
- Physical Movement: Frequent climbing in and out of pickup beds; reaching, grabbing, and holding objects; walking over uneven ground; and occasional stooping, crouching, or kneeling.
- Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate with vendors, customers, supervisors, and team members.
- Working Conditions: Approximately 75% driving to various locations and 25% working outside in all weather conditions.
