Description
The Business Development position is responsible for planning and implementing sales for both short- and long-range goals. They will target existing and new markets by performing the following duties through external sales activities such as traveling to clients, attending conferences and trade shows.
This position will report directly to the President of CLX Engineering but work most collaboratively with their colleagues including Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Routine contact with BHS designers, visiting them a minimum of two (2) times per year. Purpose to maintain the relationship and forecasting model of upcoming opportunities.
- Routine contact with BHS contractors, visiting them a minimum of two (2) times per year. Purpose to maintain the strategic relationships and explore the supporting of their other divisions (postal, material handling, etc.).
- Maintain a professional and positive relationship with major airlines. Build strategic relationships and exclusive partnerships.
- Attend IABSC meetings and events, actively participating when possible.
- Travel = 35%
- Identify and track future opportunities by continuously updating a forecasting sheet.
- Identify and secure opportunities.
- Total ownership of preparing proposals and cost estimates.
- Work closely with other Sales team members to communicate external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). The SWOT summary will be shared with Sr. Management / Leadership.
Requirements
- 5 years in the BHS industry (10 years preferred).
- Background in sales/business development.
- PM experience is a plus.
- Strong presentation and people skills
- Proven record of securing projects >$1m range.
- Maintains a professional and positive relationship with the leading BHS designers (i.e., VTC, CAGE, JSM, Swanson Rink, BNP).
- Maintains a professional and positive relationship with the leading BHS contractors, such as G&S, FSAA, DCI, WIC, VI, Siemens, Daifuku.
- Familiar with our BHS competitors (Brock, Alliant, Kasa, Intellimodus).
- Familiar with BHS O&M contractors (i.e., JBT, JSM, ELS, Oxford)
- Possess proficiency within IT systems, SCADA software, and mechanical / controls technologies.
- Familiar with mechanical & electrical subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of contracts and can negotiate favorable contractual terms.
- Solid and demonstrable negotiating skills.
- Excellent “out of the box” thinking mentality.
- Thoroughly familiar with the execution of a BHS project from inception through construction. Familiar with the various funding methods of BHS projects.
