Financial Analyst

CLUTINGER, WILLIAMS & VERHOYE, INC
San Diego, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 6/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/2/2026

About the Role

We’re hiring a Portfolio Manager to join a boutique, SEC-registered investment advisory firm serving high-net-worth individuals, families, and small institutions. This is a hands-on role that blends investment management, client advisory, and business development in a collaborative, small-team environment.

You’ll work directly with firm principals to manage customized client portfolios, contribute to investment decisions, and build long-term client relationships. This role is ideal for an experienced investment professional who brings both technical portfolio expertise and client relationships/assets that can grow with the firm.

What You’ll Do

Portfolio Management & Investment Strategy

  • Manage and monitor individualized client portfolios across asset classes
  • Conduct market research and investment analysis to support portfolio decisions
  • Execute trades and monitor performance relative to client objectives
  • Recommend and implement portfolio adjustments based on market conditions and client goals

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client relationships
  • Lead or participate in client meetings and portfolio reviews
  • Communicate investment strategy, performance, and recommendations in a clear, client-friendly manner
  • Ensure portfolios align with each client’s risk tolerance and financial objectives

Business Development & Growth (Required)

  • Bring and/or transition an existing book of business (client assets under management) in compliance with all applicable agreements
  • Maintain and deepen existing client relationships while identifying opportunities for growth
  • Support new client acquisition through referrals, networking, and relationship building

Team Collaboration & Operations

  • Partner closely with firm leadership on investment strategy and client management
  • Utilize portfolio management and reporting tools (Advent or similar systems)
  • Support preparation of client reporting and ongoing portfolio updates

What We’re Looking For

Core Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in portfolio management, investment advisory, or wealth management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage or advise on client portfolios and investment strategy
  • Existing client relationships or a portable book of business that can be transitioned in compliance with applicable agreements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, asset allocation, and investment strategy
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
  • Ability to operate independently within a small, entrepreneurial team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA, CFP, or similar designation (or in progress)
  • Experience working in a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) environment
  • Familiarity with Advent or similar portfolio management platforms

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid healthcare fund for additional health expenses
  • Profit-sharing plan participation

Why This Role

  • Direct exposure to firm leadership and investment decision-making
  • Opportunity to build and grow your client base within an established firm
  • Work on fully customized portfolios—not model-driven investing
  • High visibility and long-term growth opportunity in a stable boutique firm
