 Role Overview

The Director of Product Development will play a critical role in shaping the future of Circular Services’ customer-facing products and technology-enabled offerings. This leader will work closely with the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to develop, launch, and scale products that drive sales, customer engagement, operational efficiency, and measurable environmental impact.

The initial focus will include leading the development of tools and platforms to support the emerging Circular Services Reuse Offering, which may include developing assets to: manage reuse product deployment and tracking, onboard customers, engage users with incentives and feedback, integrate with logistics and MRF software, report on progress and impact, etc.  This role will also need to assess how this offering will fit into the larger initiative of providing our customers with a “one stop shop” for all their sustainability needs.  

This role is ideal for a strategic and hands-on product leader with experience in high-growth environments who is passionate about building scalable, market-leading solutions in reuse systems, sustainability, logistics, or infrastructure.  At Circular Services, you’ll be part of a mission-driven team transforming the U.S. recycling system and advancing the circular economy. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Product Leadership

• Work with the CTO and CSO to lead the product vision, roadmap, and development process for new customer-facing offerings, including reuse, recycling, and organics products and tools.

• Establish clear success metrics, manage product lifecycles, and ensure alignment across technology, strategy, operations, and business development teams.

Product Development & Execution

• Oversee the design, prototyping, and development of digital and physical products that drive sales, improve customer experience, data visibility, and environmental outcomes.
• Work with cross-functional teams - including engineering, design, data, and operations - to deliver high-quality products on schedule and within scope.
• Implement agile product development methodologies to accelerate innovation and reduce time to market.
• Partner with external vendors, technology providers, and industry partners to enhance product capabilities and scalability.

Customer and Market Engagement

• Work with the Circular Services sales and partnerships teams to engage directly with customers to understand their pain points, workflows, and sustainability goals; translate insights into innovative product features.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations teams to define go-to-market strategies and launch plans for new products.
• Represent Circular Services at industry events, panels, and working groups to showcase product innovation and thought leadership in the circular economy.

Team Leadership and Culture

• Be an active leader and individual contributor on a high-performing product team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and collaboration.
• Establish product management best practices across research, design, testing, and iteration cycles.
• Drive continuous improvement, encouraging data-driven decision making and experimentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

• 8–12 years of experience in product development, product management, or innovation roles, ideally within high-growth or mission-driven companies.
• Proven success leading cross-functional teams in the creation and launch of digital or physical products.
• Experience building customer-facing applications, platforms, or tools, particularly in reuse, logistics, sustainability, data services, or technology-driven infrastructure sectors.
• Strong technical acumen and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and technology teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute product roadmaps that align with strategic business objectives.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable plans.

Preferred

• Background in reuse businesses, sustainability, recycling, circular economy, logistics, or environmental services.
• Experience with data platforms, IoT, SaaS, or technology products that integrate physical and digital systems.
• Track record of scaling early-stage products into operationally successful, revenue-generating offerings.
• MBA, MS, or relevant advanced degree preferred but not required.

Salary : $145,000 - $165,000
