Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Malpractice Investigator
Location: Albany, NY
Job Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks with potential extension
Pay:
- Travel: $61.55 per hour | Approximately $2,308 weekly gross
- Local: $55.71 per hour | Approximately $2,089 weekly gross
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with strong clinical and investigative experience to join a professional medical misconduct investigation team. The RN Investigator will review clinical records, analyze investigative materials, conduct interviews, evaluate evidence, and collaborate with medical professionals, attorneys, and other investigative stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate investigative plans and conduct investigations related to medical misconduct.
- Review and analyze medical records and clinical investigative materials.
- Provide clinical opinions as part of the investigative process.
- Conduct in-person, field, and telephone interviews with complainants, attorneys, subjects of investigations, and other relevant individuals.
- Analyze investigative data, quality assurance materials, criminal information, and malpractice-related information.
- Obtain, review, and evaluate documentary evidence.
- Document investigative activities, interviews, phone conversations, and findings.
- Collaborate with investigative staff, medical coordinators, medical experts, pharmacy consultants, attorneys, and management.
- Communicate with external entities, facilities, and agencies as required.
- Prepare completed case reports and investigative correspondence.
- Review practice monitor reports and communicate with pharmacies, licensees, and other involved parties.
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State RN License.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical RN experience.
- Some investigative experience required.
- BLS certification.
- Strong clinical assessment, analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to review and interpret medical records and clinical information.
- Ability to conduct interviews and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Start Date
Approximately 3–4 weeks after offer, pending state clearance.
