Qualifications
A Pharmacy Technician – PA Specialist, is a registered professional who performs a variety of functions in the pharmacy. Working under the supervision of a pharmacist, they accept and review prescriptions, work with insurances to obtain prior authorizations for patients as appropriate and demand appropriate follow through for the entire process to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction.
Pharmacy Technician duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Texas Pharmacy Technician Certification (Required)
- PTCB Certification (Required)
- Pharmacy Technician Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)

Pharmacy Technician duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
- Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires effective customer relation skills, ability to organize and interpret data.
- Requires good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and ability to problem solve.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Contact insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements.
- Request, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted for medical and services.
- Request, follow up and secure prior authorizations for prescription medications
- Communicate any insurance changes or trends among team.
- Maintains a level of productivity suitable for the department.
- Clearly document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format.
- Other duties as assigned.
