We are looking for a highly experienced Calypso Principal Software Engineer to support a major banking technology initiative. The consultant will work closely with engineering teams, architects, and business stakeholders to design, develop, configure, and implement high-quality Calypso-based solutions across the trading lifecycle.
This is a senior consulting role requiring deep hands-on expertise with Nasdaq Calypso platforms, OTC derivatives, collateral management, market integrations, and enterprise-grade software engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, configuration, and implementation of Calypso-based technology solutions.
- Work with architecture and engineering teams to deliver scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions.
- Configure and extend Calypso application modules across asset classes including interest rates, commodities, FX, FX options, and equity derivatives.
- Support front-office, middle-office, and back-office processing for OTC derivatives products.
- Contribute to solution design discussions while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Integrate Calypso with financial market utilities, market data providers, risk platforms, and downstream systems.
- Build and support applications using Java, Spring Boot, MQ, ETL, APIs, WebSphere, and related technologies.
- Participate in Agile delivery ceremonies and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices, innovation, accountability, and quality.
- Identify, evaluate, and remediate software vulnerabilities during the development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience supporting Nasdaq Calypso platforms and infrastructure.
- Strong experience with Calypso configuration, implementation, testing, and production support.
- Deep understanding of OTC derivatives trading lifecycle, including front, middle, and back-office workflows.

- Strong programming/scripting skills in Java, JavaScript, HTML, Python, Angular, and Unix shell scripting.

- Hands-on experience with tools such as Bitbucket, Nexus, Jenkins, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and guide software engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in financial services, preferably in trading, portfolio management, compliance, wealth management, or banking technology.
- Experience with Apache, Lucene, Memcache, RabbitMQ, and NoSQL databases.
- AWS certification such as AWS Solutions Architect is a plus.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required.
