Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled On-Call IT Field Technician (1099 Contractor) to provide multi-site support across various locations. This dynamic role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of computer hardware, networking equipment, and low-voltage systems. As an on-call contractor, you will deliver prompt, professional service to ensure seamless operation of our clients’ technology infrastructure. Your mechanical aptitude, technical expertise, and hands-on approach will be vital in resolving issues efficiently and keeping systems running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to on-call service requests for hardware, network, and equipment issues at multiple sites.
- Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of computer hardware including servers, desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Use hand tools and schematics to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in equipment.
- Conduct equipment repairs by replacing faulty components and ensuring proper calibration using tools such as ohmmeters and low voltage testers.
- Assist with network setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of wired and wireless systems to maintain optimal connectivity.
- Follow safety protocols while working with low voltage systems and ensure all repairs comply with industry standards.
- Document all service activities thoroughly in logs or reports for future reference and accountability.
Requirements
- Proven experience in field service roles supporting computer hardware, networking, or related technology systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with hand tools, schematics, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with low voltage wiring standards and safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical diagrams and troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members. Preferred qualifications include prior service technician experience, knowledge of computer networking concepts, familiarity with mechanical systems relevant to hardware support, and the ability to handle multiple site visits efficiently.
