What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Operational Leader position at Cloud Equity Group?
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on operational leader to help stabilize, optimize, and improve performance across two established B2B professional services businesses. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex operating environments, brings structure where it’s lacking, and uses data, accountability, and execution discipline to drive measurable improvement.
This position partners closely with existing leadership and functional heads to identify operational friction, implement KPI-driven management practices, and elevate execution across teams — without disrupting client relationships or company culture.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Performance & Execution
Design, implement, and manage core KPI frameworks across delivery, utilization, client health, margins, and cash flow
- Establish weekly and monthly operating rhythms (dashboards, reviews, action tracking)
- Identify operational bottlenecks and execution gaps impacting client outcomes and team productivity
Team Effectiveness & Accountability
- Improve clarity around roles, expectations, and deliverables
- Introduce practical performance management tools that increase accountability without harming morale
- Work directly with managers to improve execution quality and delivery consistency
Financial & Resource Discipline
- Improve forecasting, capacity planning, and cost awareness
- Partner with finance to enhance cash-flow visibility and working-capital management
- Support leadership with data-backed recommendations around staffing, prioritization, and resource allocation
Client Delivery & Retention Support
- Help diagnose the root causes behind declining client satisfaction or delivery slippage
- Implement operational controls that improve reliability, communication, and follow-through
- Ensure internal processes support — rather than hinder — client success
Change Implementation
- Translate strategic direction into clear, executable operating plans
- Drive follow-through on agreed changes, initiatives, and corrective actions
- Serve as a steady, credible presence during a period of operational improvement
- Identify operational bottlenecks and execution gaps impacting client outcomes and team productivity
Ideal Candidate Profile
10 years in operations leadership within B2B services (e.g., MSPs, agencies, consulting, SaaS services)
- Strong track record of using metrics and KPIs to drive behavior change
- Experience improving performance in challenging or resource-constrained environments
- Highly analytical but pragmatic — comfortable rolling up sleeves
- Calm, credible, and collaborative leadership style
- Able to influence without formal authority
