Duties
- Perform comprehensive calibration, quality assurance, and maintenance of medical imaging equipment such as CT scanners, mammography units, and other diagnostic devices to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Collaborate with radiologists, oncologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans involving radiation therapy.
- Conduct detailed assessments of radiation doses delivered during therapy sessions, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop protocols for imaging procedures that enhance image quality while minimizing patient exposure, incorporating knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Monitor critical care environments where advanced imaging or radiation procedures are performed, providing expert guidance on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Lead efforts in radiation safety training for staff, including proper handling of medical imaging devices and understanding of acute care protocols involving radiological procedures.
- Stay current with advancements in medical physics technology such as CT imaging techniques, radiation therapy innovations, and mammography advancements to continually improve clinical practices.
- Document all calibration activities, safety checks, incident reports, and maintenance logs meticulously to ensure compliance with health regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Physics or a related field from an accredited institution; certification by recognized professional bodies is highly preferred.
- Proven experience working with CT scanners, mammography equipment, radiation therapy systems, or other advanced medical imaging devices.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to accurately interpret images and optimize diagnostic procedures.
- Critical care experience is advantageous for managing complex cases requiring immediate imaging support in acute settings.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to radiology and oncology practices enhances communication within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to perform quality assurance testing and calibration on diverse medical imaging systems with precision.
