Lead AV & Security Installation Technician

We are a well-established and respected low voltage systems integrator specializing in commercial and residential Audio Visual, Security, Access Control, and Network Infrastructure solutions. We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Technician who can take ownership of projects in the field and deliver professional, high-quality installations.
Position Summary
The Lead Commercial AV & Security Installation Technician is responsible for leading field installations of commercial Pro AV systems, security systems, and access control solutions. This individual must be capable of running projects on-site, directing junior technicians, maintaining installation standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
This is not an entry-level role. A minimum of 7 years of hands-on low voltage and AV integration experience is required.
Required Experience
Commercial Audio-Visual Systems (Required)
- Installation and commissioning of commercial Pro AV systems
- Experience with Crestron control systems (required)
- Experience with Extron systems (required)
- Installation of projectors, video walls, flat panel displays, automated screens
- DSPs, matrix switching, and HD video distribution
- Video conferencing systems and collaboration platforms
- Rack building, cable management, and structured rack layouts
- Ability to read AV drawings, schematics, and signal flow documentation
- Advanced troubleshooting of complex AV systems
Security & Access Control (Required)
- Installation and configuration of IP camera systems (NVR/DVR)
- Access control system installation and configuration
- Experience integrating security systems within commercial environments
- Familiarity with commercial alarm systems
- Security/Alarm License preferred (or ability to obtain)
Low Voltage & Infrastructure
- Structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Fiber)
- Network device installation and basic configuration
- Experience with commercial IT environments
- Use of testing equipment (cable testers, meters, certification tools)
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and direct Junior Technicians on-site
- Ensure installation quality meets company standards
- Coordinate with Project Managers to keep projects on schedule
- Maintain job documentation and process required paperwork
- Communicate professionally with clients and contractors
- Resolve installation challenges independently in the field
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of low voltage and AV integration experience
- Strong commercial Pro AV background
- Experience with Crestron and Extron systems (required)
- Security and access control installation experience
- Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Professional appearance and customer-facing communication skills Industry certifications (Crestron, Extron, AVIXA, CEDIA, BICSI, etc.) are a plus.
