What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cabinet and Closet Designer position at Closet Butler?
Cabinet and Closet Designer
Closet Butler is a local home-improvement business specializing in custom closets, cabinetry, and innovative storage solutions that make homes more beautiful, functional, and organized. Unlike many national brands and franchise operations that are limited to a defined product line, Closet Butler offers a much broader range of products, materials, styles, and design possibilities. This flexibility allows us to create solutions tailored to each client's home, lifestyle, and budget rather than forcing every project into a standardized system.
Our local roots mean a more personal, hands-on approach to every project, with an emphasis on quality, attention to detail, and lasting client relationships. We take pride in our work, our reputation, and our ability to offer creative solutions that larger, more standardized competitors may not be equipped to provide.
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Cabinet and Closet Designer to join our team. You will work directly with clients to transform their ideas and needs into creative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs. From initial consultation and space planning through 3D presentations, technical documentation, and installation coordination, you will help bring each project to life.
This is an opportunity to do more than create designs. You'll have the flexibility to think creatively, explore a wider range of solutions, and make recommendations based on what's best for each client. If you enjoy combining design talent, practical problem-solving, and personal customer service, Closet Butler offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a local business where your contributions matter.
Duties
- Meet with clients to understand their storage needs, design preferences, lifestyle, and budget for custom closets and cabinetry.
- Develop creative, functional design concepts using CAD or other design software.
- Create 3D models and renderings to help clients visualize proposed designs.
- Prepare accurate design plans, material specifications, dimensions, and installation documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, installers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules, budgets, and attention to detail.
- Communicate with clients throughout the design and project process, answering questions and incorporating revisions as needed.
- Recommend appropriate products, materials, finishes, and accessories from our broad range of offerings to create the best solution for each client.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in interior design, cabinetry, closet design, kitchen and bath design, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with CAD or 3D design software. Experience with SketchUp or similar design tools is a plus; we value practical design ability over expertise in a particular software package.
- Strong spatial awareness and the ability to translate measurements and client needs into functional, attractive designs.
- Good understanding of cabinetry, materials, finishes, and residential construction details.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to guide clients through design decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A creative, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and a willingness to explore solutions beyond standard product configurations.
- Knowledge of lighting, color coordination, remodeling, construction, or project management is a plus but not required.
Join Closet Butler if you're passionate about transforming spaces through thoughtful design and innovative storage solutions. We value creativity, technical ability, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. This paid position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, develop your design skills, and contribute to a local business that takes pride in delivering personalized solutions and outstanding results.
