Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to promote dignity and independence
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to support health assessments
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques
- Support residents during meals by meal preparation, feeding assistance, and ensuring proper nutrition intake
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and other mobility aids to ensure safe transfers and prevent injuries
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control standards
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, families, and other caregivers to develop personalized care plans that meet each resident’s unique needs
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Certification in First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or CPR are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is beneficial
- Ability to operate EMR systems efficiently for documentation purposes
- Valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities related to resident outings or appointments is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving and resident support
- Physical ability to lift or transfer residents using equipment like Hoyer lifts safely
