Summary
Close Lumber is a family-owned building materials and hardware store chain in northern California, with locations in Sutter, Yuba City, Williams, Willows, Orland, and Corning. This job listing is for the Sutter location. Store operations are Monday through Saturday.
This employee’s focus will be to handle bookkeeping of Close Lumber, Inc., and related tasks. This job may include (but not limited to) tasks related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax reporting, payroll.

This is a full-time position. The work schedule is about 7 to 10 hours a day, 32 to 48 hours a week. This job includes full benefits, including:

Essential Job Tasks:
- Comply with company policies and standard procedures
- Provide excellent customer service to customers over the phone, via email, and in person
- Perform tasks related to accounts receivable, such as: review customer accounts, maintain accurate records and reports of customer accounts, perform regular reviews of customer accounts, provide customers with explanations of account status and invoices, communicate with customers outstanding charges, follow company handling and filing policies for paperwork
- Perform tasks related to accounts payable, such as: process invoices from our vendors, reach out to vendors when questions arise in invoices received, follow company handling and filing policies for paperwork
- Perform tasks related to human resources and payroll, such as: review employee timecards for discrepancies and errors, process payroll, handle new employee onboarding procedures
- Complete tax-related filings and provide tax-related information to the CPA
- Review daily sales and cash drawer end of day totals for errors and discrepancies, manage deposits and cash drawers
- Travel to other company store locations to process deposits and review cash drawers
Requirements of Applicant:
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Must be able to use computerized bookkeeping software (previous experience in Quickbooks or similar software is a plus)
- Excellent computer skills
- Able to work with spreadsheet software (such as Microsoft Excel or similar software)
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
- Effectively communicate with co-workers and administrative staff
- Ability to maintain great customer relations
- Enthusiastic interest in learning unique product offerings of the company
- Relevant experience or knowledge in carpentry, construction, building materials, and/or retail services is a plus (though not required)
