We currently have an opening for a Staff Accountant in our Mason, Ohio location.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain general ledgers of relevant operation companies.
- Prepare all required journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely closings.
- Analyze, identify and quantify balance sheet accounts with exposure and communicate findings to management.
- Work with operating companies and corporate personnel to ensure proper documentation for and approval of all transactions.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
- Assist in the review of monthly income statements, balance sheets and statements of cash flow.
- Identify profit potential and cash flow and RONA improvement opportunities.
- Monitor transactions for unusual items and, using relevant accounting literature as necessary, research those transactions.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of system-generated reports and use such reports to expedite monthly closings, account analyses, and financial statement preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly workpapers and related variance analyses for Griffon personnel.
- Prepare annual audit workpapers.
- Maintain and update appropriate policies, procedures and related documentation.
- This position will interface with the plant workforce and management team as well as corporate personnel which requires strong communication and cross-collaboration
- Complete additional tasks as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
- At least 5-years of financial accounting experience
- Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing cost accounting
- Practical experience with ERP systems
- Strong collaboration, communication and must be a self-starter
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CMA is a plus
- Oracle ERP Applications experience
