We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant and Technician to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering medications.
- Perform animal husbandry duties such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas.
- Support diagnostic processes by preparing animals for X-ray imaging, laboratory testing, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results in compliance with clinic protocols.
- Ensure proper aseptic techniques are followed during surgical procedures and sample collection to prevent infections.
- Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and equine patients with confidence and compassion.
- Contribute to pet grooming and training activities to promote positive behavior and comfort for animals.
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting dental cleanings or surgeries.
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and pet grooming techniques.
- Familiarity with dog training methods and pet care best practices.
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely while demonstrating patience and professionalism.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols in a veterinary setting.
- Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Veterinary technician experience or related certifications are advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
