Position Summary

 

Performs a wide variety of technical and clerical support services to assist the efficient operation of the assigned middle school library and building while maintaining confidentiality.

                                                                                 

Duties and Responsibilities

(These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans With Disabilities Act or ADA)

 

 

  • Provides onsite technical and hardware support for the building. Support included but not limited to laptops, desktops, printers, Interactive Flat Panels, classroom audio system and software applications, etc.
  • Maintains and support building A/V technology i.e., Analog Video network, digital network, TV monitors, DVD/VCR players, printers, etc. with the building.
  • Provide support and install various software applications including remote imaging of computers.
  • Maintain building computer inventory via Resource Manager.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for student devices, coordinate with the Help Desk to repair student and staff computers, as necessary.
  • Coordinate with district Help Desk to resolve building issues such as account management, cabling, programming drops, and hardware repair.
  • Oversee computerized library circulation and catalog system, including checking in and out books.
  • Provide assistance to students and staff for all media center hardware, applications and materials throughout the building.
  • Conducts inventory on books, equipment and supplies every other year.
  • Updates and maintains Powerpoint presentation for School News and other video.
  • Purchase and maintain media supplies, books and materials.
  • Process new books, computers, and other inventory with asset tags, Enter new books and equipment into the Follett Resource Manager Program.
  • Check student devices in and out via the Follett Resource Manager.
  • Responsible for scheduling use of media center, computer labs and use of equipment.
  • Prepares overdue and fine notices; collects money for overdue, damaged or lost library media materials; and keep a record of money received.
  • Maintain student computer login and password account list.
  • Reset student passwords when necessary.
  • Maintains and updates student information in the computerized library circulation system.
  • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, computers, printers, laminators, calculators, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, and telephones.
  • Communicate with customers, employees, students, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information and address complaints.

Education: 

This position requires high school diploma or equivalent. 

 

Experience: 

  • One year of related experience providing clerical support required.

 

Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of basic math, required.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, required.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures, required.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar, required.
  • Knowledge of library Dewey Decimal System, preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic operations and maintenance of Audio Visual Equipment, preferred.

 

Abilities: 

  • Ability to grasp position-specific software and hardware with minimal training, required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer software applications, computer hardware, audio-visual equipment and related electronic equipment and devices, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret district policies, guidelines, and government regulations, required.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in training classes, required.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, required.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form, required.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, be organized and work in a fast paced work environment, required.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with teachers, community, students and staff, required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English-speaking staff, students, community and supervisors, required.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of files, computer and audio visual equipment, etc.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
