Job Summary:
Clinton High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team. The School Counselor will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, collaborating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure student success.
Responsibilities:
- Academic Counseling:
- Assist students with academic planning, course selection, and post-secondary planning (college, technical school, career).
- Monitor student academic progress and provide interventions as needed.
- Interpret and utilize student data to inform academic support.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions related to academic achievement.
- Social-Emotional Counseling:
- Provide individual and group counseling to address students' social and emotional needs.
- Implement and facilitate social-emotional learning programs.
- Respond to and manage crisis situations, including providing support to students experiencing emotional distress.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior and conflict resolution.
- College and Career Counseling:
- Provide guidance and support to students regarding college applications, financial aid, and career exploration.
- Organize and conduct college and career workshops and presentations.
- Maintain up-to-date information on college and career resources.
- Collaboration and Consultation:
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and community resources to support student success.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and meetings.
- Provide consultation to teachers and parents on student issues.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Student Support Services:
- Identify students with special needs and collaborate with special education staff.
- Act as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources.
- Implement and support school-wide initiatives related to student well-being.
- Help to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid Oklahoma School Counselor certification.
- Knowledge of academic, social-emotional, and career development theories and practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of and ability to use technology and student information systems.
- Experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of Oklahoma graduation requirements and post secondary options.
