CLINTON COUNTY CAP JOB DESCRIPTION
PART-TIME HEAD START BUS DRIVER
MISSION:
In collaboration with our community, Head Start will provide a safe, high-quality environment that educates and empowers our children and families to be successful, self-advocates throughout their lives.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
To assist the parents and their children in the process of achieving
a high level of self-sufficiency. Provide a safe and efficient transportation environment for the children.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a split shift, with an am route and a pm route. Approximately 25-28 hours a week. Route could begin as early as 6:30 and run till 8:15, then driver is responsible for paperwork, gassing and cleaning bus. PM route begins at 3:30 and runs till approximately 5pm.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complete the pre-trip inspection of the bus and pre-trip form daily before
driving the bus.
2. Transport children to and from the Head Start Center and field trips.
3. Maintain a written route and keep it updated.
4. Responsible for paperwork transfers from school to home.
5. Responsible for alerting the Transportation Manager of any changes of
of pick-up and/or drop-off of children.
6. Treating all families and children with dignity and respect.
7. Responsible for completing all assigned paperwork within designated timeframes.
8. Actively involved in the accomplishment of all goals and objectives of the Head Start Program and in particular transportation.
9. Fill out incident reports when necessary.
10. Maintain a list of persons identified to remove children from the bus.
11. Only release children to those identified to do so.
12. Responsible for keeping bus in good physical condition and cleaning daily.
13. During field trips, be responsible for the supervision of the children and the
paperwork necessary for the field trip.
14. Usage of cellar phones permitted only in emergencies.
15. Hand in gas receipts daily.
16. Properly secure children in harnesses and car seats.
17. Conduct transportation emergency drills as prescribed.
18. Provide information to Transportation Manager so management team can make decisions that are in the best interest of the families.
19. Complete any job duties assigned to you by supervisor.
20. Ensure crisis situations are immediately referred to supervisor.
21. Perform any necessary cleaning tasks (wipe tables, sweep floors etc.)
22. Take trainings as needed to understand child development

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS
1. 18 years of age or older
2. U.S.citizen
3. Current CDL school bus driver’s license
4. Ability to pass required drug testing
5. Ability to pass BCI/FBI check
6. GED or High School Diploma
