- QUALIFICATIONS:** The purpose of this position is to process, scan, docket, maintain, track and complete all legal actions filed in the Magisterial District Court. High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of six months of work related experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have a valid driver's license, satisfactory pre-employment drug screen, background check and completion of a computer skills testing.
- SALARY:** $28,233.00 (Grade A)
- Summary:** The purpose of this position is to process, scan, docket, maintain, track and complete all legal actions filed in the Magisterial District Court. This work is performed under the direction of the Magisterial District Judge (MDJ). The President Judge and Court Administrator are responsible for human resource activities such as, but not limited to, hiring, firing, assignment of office location, scheduling, and authorization for taking of leave.
- Essential Functions:** The following duties are normal for this position. They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned by the MDJ or President Judge. This position does not and should not supervise or instruct any other employee and will be entitled to union membership.
- Assists in Central Court as needed.
- Tracks cases and provides appropriate notifications to necessary parties.
- Greets, screens, directs and assists callers and visitors; provides information; answers questions; prepares wedding certificates, etc. Takes payments and prepares receipts;
- Balances funds collected with receipts on a daily basis.
- Assists MDJ after work-hours when required.
- Collects payments, including bail; schedules payment determination hearings if payments are missed.
- Processes all necessary documents including commitments, payment plans, orders imposing sentence, driver license suspensions, etc.
- Schedules and track payment plans and alternative sentences such as Community Service, etc.
- Notifies defendants of judicial action and opportunity to pay or set up payment plan; processes notices of impending warrants, etc.
- Scans original court documents to Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC) provided systems/programs as directed by the MDJ, President Judge or AOPC.
- Processes and dockets a variety of traffic, non-traffic, truancy, game law, fish and boat law, civil, criminal and private complaints and citations; prepares all related paperwork, notifies involved parties of impending actions, by mail, or by service of process; schedules related court appearances and performs all related work.
- Oversees warrant control with all police departments and constables; maintains lists and databases; distributes, returns and cancels warrants; notifies appropriate personnel regarding warrants.
- Prepares receipts; schedules appointments, hearings and trials; collects collateral for trial.
- Types and processes a variety of reports, documents and correspondence; processes subpoenas and service of process for trials; notifies appropriate parties of judicial actions and dates.
- Files documents and records; maintains filing systems; copies, faxes and scans documents.
- Complies with all directives of the MDJ, President Judge and District Court Administrator.
- Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
- Performs other related functions as assigned or required.

- Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information such as regulations, warrants, citations, complaints, lists, letters, manuals, procedures, correspondence and general operating manuals.
- Requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing with the MDJ, and all department personnel, other county departments, law enforcement agencies, counselors, clients, defendants, attorneys and the public.
- Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and to calculate percentages and decimals.
