Lab Histology Manager – Anatomic Pathology – Eatontown, NJ

My client is a leading diagnostic laboratory committed to delivering accurate, high-quality pathology results with exceptional service. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Lab Histology Manager to oversee our Anatomic Pathology (AP) laboratory operations at our Eatontown, NJ facility.

Position Summary:

The Lab Histology Manager will serve as a working manager, combining technical expertise in histology with administrative oversight. This role requires a certified Histotechnician with in-depth knowledge of CAP and CLIA requirements, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage daily laboratory operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the Anatomic Pathology / Histology Laboratory.
• Perform hands-on histology duties as needed to support workflow.
• Ensure compliance with CAP and CLIA regulations and successfully prepare for inspections.
• Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory protocols and quality control procedures.
• Manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
• Oversee administrative operations such as ordering supplies, inventory management, and budgeting.
• Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate results.
• Drive continuous improvement in laboratory efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Certified Histotechnician (HT or HTL, ASCP) required.
• Strong background in Histotechnology with proven technical skills.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory, including leadership or management experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of CAP and CLIA standards and inspection processes.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to effectively balance managerial, administrative, and technical responsibilities.
