Position Summary

The Clinical Intake Specialist is a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented individual who supports the intake and referral process. The Clinical Intake Specialist serves as an important first point of contact for patients and referral sources, gathering relevant information, coordinating appointments, and ensuring that each patient is appropriately prepared for the evaluation process. The ideal candidate is professional, empathetic, highly organized, and comfortable working with confidential clinical information in a fast-paced environment. The Clinical Intake Specialist will also collaborate closely with the practice’s team of psychometrists to support the efficient administration of psychological assessments in accordance with established standards and best practices. Additional responsibilities may include light clinical and administrative duties to support the day-to-day operations of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

● Conduct clinical intake appointments for patients referred for psychological evaluations, communicating professionally and compassionately with patients and their families throughout the intake and evaluation process.

● Gather comprehensive information regarding presenting concerns, clinical history, developmental history, and relevant psychosocial factors.

● Develop and communicate provisional diagnostic impressions based on the DSM-5-TR and information obtained during the intake process.

● Collaborate with the lead clinical psychologist regarding intake findings, diagnostic impressions, testing recommendations, and treatment considerations.

● Work closely with psychometrists to ensure psychological assessments are administered accurately and in accordance with established testing procedures and best practices.

● Provide clinical guidance and clarification to psychometrists and interns as appropriate and communicate relevant concerns to the lead clinical psychologist.

● Review intake documentation and ensure relevant clinical information is accurately recorded in the electronic health record (TherapyNotes).

● Assist with light clinical, administrative, and office duties as needed to support the practice.

● Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable professional and practice requirements.

Qualifications

● Master’s or doctoral degree in Psychology and must hold one of the following Michigan licenses: LPC, LMFT, LLP, or LP.

● Experience conducting clinical intakes, psychological assessments, or diagnostic evaluations strongly preferred.

● Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and compassionately with patients, families, and clinical staff.

● Strong clinical interviewing and information-gathering skills and ability to accurately document clinical information.

● Working knowledge of psychological assessment, diagnostic criteria from the DSM-5-TR, and behavioral health terminology.

● Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and develop appropriate provisional diagnostic impressions.

● Ability to work collaboratively with psychologists, psychometrists, and administrative staff.

● Professional, dependable, and comfortable working in a small-practice environment.

● Strong commitment to patient confidentiality, ethical practice, HIPPA compliance, and high-quality clinical care.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
