Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately using dental imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental health status to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as preparing treatment rooms, handing instruments, and ensuring patient comfort during visits.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Follow infection prevention protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and uphold healthcare infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with a focus on patient care and education.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care procedures.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, including the use of dental equipment and performing dental x-rays with precision.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction, explaining procedures clearly, and fostering a positive patient experience.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management practices including sterilization techniques and healthcare infection control expertise.
