Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive electrical cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and technical drawings using tools like Bluebeam and HeavyBid.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements, ensuring accurate pricing and scope definition.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals, including material costs, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes while maintaining strict adherence to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and cost control analyses to optimize project budgets and maximize profitability.
- Assist in contract review and support project management teams during project execution to ensure costs align with estimates.
- Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, contracts, and correspondence for future reference and audits.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems within commercial or industrial projects.
- Strong background in electrical work combined with construction site experience to accurately assess on-the-ground realities.
- Familiarity with construction management processes, contracts, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Accubid or equivalent tools; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), construction estimating best practices, cost control strategies, and pricing techniques.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
