What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Monitor position at Climbzone Palisades?
Overview:
As a Court Monitor, your primary responsibility is to provide a safe, fun, and welcoming climbing experience for our guests. Our indoor climbing park features a variety of colorful climbing walls ranging from approximately 25 to 40 feet high and utilizes an auto-belay system. While we welcome guests of all ages, a large portion of our customers are children and families.
Court Monitors serve almost like “lifeguards on land.” Your job is to stay alert, monitor the climbing area, enforce safety rules, and assist guests whenever necessary. You will help guests properly put on and remove climbing harnesses, make sure climbers are correctly connected to the auto-belay system, and provide assistance or perform a rescue if a climber becomes uncomfortable or needs help on a wall.
Responsibilities:
● Greet guests and help create a friendly, positive environment.
● Properly fit, secure, and remove climbing harnesses.
● Monitor climbers and climbing walls closely to ensure safety procedures are followed.
● Make sure guests are properly connected to the auto-belay system before climbing.
● Explain climbing and safety rules clearly to both children and adults.
● Assist or rescue climbers when necessary; training will be provided.
● Remain attentive and aware of activity throughout the climbing area.
● Enforce safety rules in a friendly but confident manner.
● Work patiently and positively with children of different ages and abilities.
● Communicate professionally with parents and other guests.
● Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe climbing area.
● Work cooperatively with other team members during busy periods, parties, and events.
What We’re Looking For
No previous climbing experience is necessary—we will provide training. We are looking for dependable, responsible individuals who are comfortable working with children and families.
The ideal Court Monitor is alert, patient, friendly, safety-conscious, and comfortable speaking up when a safety rule needs to be enforced. Because this position involves supervising children in an active environment, being able to stay focused and pay attention to what is happening around you is extremely important.
If you enjoy working with kids, interacting with people, and helping create a fun environment while keeping safety the top priority, this could be a great fit.
