Route Setter

The Rock Club is looking for an experienced Route Setter. This role is ideal for someone who values an engaging work environment, enjoys collaborating with a motivated team, and takes pride in creating engaging climbs for a wide range of climbers.

Key Responsibilities

• Set boulder problems and sport routes with a focus on creativity and accessibility across a wide range of skill levels
• Forerun climbs to align with gym grading standards, movement goals, and member experience
• Collaborate with the setting team and gym leadership to uphold a positive and consistent work environment
• Adhere to all safety protocols related to routesetting, including proper use of PPE, ropes, and ladders
• Perform regular maintenance including cleaning holds, organizing hardware, and safety inspections
• Regularly evaluate climbs, holds, and wall structures to identify and address any safety or maintenance issues
• Engage in team meetings, feedback discussions, and ongoing efforts to calibrate grading and setting style
• Provide support for gym programming such as events, clinics, competitions, and specialized setting projects when needed
  
  

Qualifications

• 1 years of indoor route setting experience preferred
• Strong climbing movement knowledge across a range of styles
• Ability to set for multiple skill levels with attention to progression and accessibility
• Comfortable working at height and using standard route setting tools and PPE
• Ability to take and apply feedback in a collaborative team setting
• Strong time management and reliability
• Positive attitude and professional communication
  
  

Compensation

• $20–25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
• Part-time and full-time available
